Ester Trails Committee

The ECA Trails Committee maintains and identifies Ester-area trails. The Trails Committee has membership in the Alaska Trails organization, and Geoff Orth, our Trails Czar, is a co-president and member of the Alaska Trails board.

TrailMapper

TrailMapper is a web-based program, a Google Earth mash-up in the wiki vein, created by Tom Clark.

You'll be prompted to download the Google Earth plugin. It's about 5MB, so let it do its thing. As a quick taste, type "ester" into the Keyword box, then hit the Search button.  The scroll wheel on the mouse will zoom in/out; right mouse button will grab for panning or display info if the trail is highlighted. Click the link "Help" for a short tutorial.

TrailMapper is in beta, so it's critical to give feedback to Tom (aksnowbiker@gmail.com).  He's busy with other projects for the summer, this is a volunteer effort on his part, so further development and bug fixing is likely to be delayed for a while.  Still, we feel that TrailMapper is sufficiently complete to make its introduction and encourage its use.
